Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive medical treatment which enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure. The increased pressure allows oxygen to dissolve in the blood plasma which increases the amount of oxygen delivered to the tissues. It is carried out in a pressurized room, or a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.  Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has many indications and is commonly used to treat conditions like non-healing ulcers/wounds in diabetic patients, Radiation cystitis, osteoradionecrosis to improve uptake of skin graft, decompression sickness, to enhance healing after sports injury etc

The HBOT chamber is designed to accommodate a single patient and is pressurized up to three times higher than normal air pressure. A full-length acrylic window offers a 360-degree vision and the patient can communicate with the hyperbaric physician and vice versa via a telephone. During the treatment, the increased air pressure can create a temporary sensation of fullness in the ears, similar to what one may experience in an ascending elevator or an aeroplane, which can be relieved by yawning or swallowing. This therapy lasts for about one and a half hours. For effective treatment, this treatment is used as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan along with other therapies or drugs.
